On July 15, a new law went into effect in Maine that prohibits the sale or distribution of products with intentionally added PFAS as of January 1, 2030 unless the manufacturer can show there is no alternative. The law also requires that manufacturers selling PFAS-containing products notify the state government starting January 1, 2023.
The law has been touted by environmental health leaders and local environmental groups as a model for other states.
