This week, ECOS posted a new video from Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (OR DEQ) on its Vimeo channel. This video discusses how Oregon shifted from waste management to materials management. The video looks at OR DEQ’s history of waste management efforts and their decision to tackle the environmental impacts of materials through lifecycle analysis. Examples of some lifecycle analyses and their results are included in the video.
This video was developed by OR DEQ in conjunction with ECOS staff as part of grant-funded project to highlight replicable state sustainability efforts. Two other videos highlighting a water utility energy efficiency project in Nebraska and a sustainable cities program in Michigan are available on ECOS’ Vimeo channel. A fourth video about Massachusetts’ Organic Waste Ban will be released next week.
