With support from Oregon’s Clean Water State Revolving Fund, the city of Redmond has begun building a wetlands complex that will utilize ponds and engineered wetlands to treat wastewater. This complex will expand Redmond’s existing water treatment facility that is reaching capacity due to the city’s growing population. These constructed wetlands are expected to be an efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective method for the treatment of municipal wastewater while protecting wetland habitat for birds and other wildlife.
