Last week, the South Dakota Department of Environment & Natural Resources announced a program in partnership with the state Department of Social Services to provide lead testing for licensed childcare programs and registered family daycare providers.
The program will support voluntary water testing to determine if a facility’s plumbing or equipment is adding lead to the water. Technical assistance and reimbursements for both short and long-term solutions will help ensure clean water access for more than 420 licensed childcare centers and 405 registered family daycare providers across South Dakota.
