State Innovation Video 2023: Tennessee Regulatory Dialogue Initiative
In response to a difficulty reaching agreement on siting a landfill to manage toxic waste, Tennessee created a cooperative framework for regulatory dialogue to supplement the formal federal facility process. Their Emerging Issues Team played a key role in implementing this initiative and developed creative solutions to groundwater and mercury concerns, resulting in a consensus among decision-makers to approve the environmental management disposal facility.
