The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on May 17 recognized several organizations and individuals with the state’s highest environmental honor – the Texas Environmental Excellence Award. The awards have been given since 1993 in conjunction with the Office of the Governor.
The recipients are a diverse group, consisting of:
- Civic/Community (two winners): Fort Hood | The Valley Nature Center
- Pollution Prevention: The Amarillo Veterans Affairs Medical Center
- Innovative Operations/Management: The Mansfield Independent School District
- Water Conservation: The University of Texas at Austin
- Agriculture: The Texas Project for Ag Water Efficiency: Citrus
- Education: The Colorado River Alliance
- Youth: Teens4Green
- Individual: Martha McLeod
