The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has produced a video spotlighting its extensive air monitoring networks that are among the most extensive in the nation. The data collected by monitoring sites are used for a variety of purposes in the agency — including compliance with the National Ambient Air Quality Standards — and are made public via the Geographic Texas Air Monitoring page.
The agency’s Monitoring Division and its contractors maintain the monitoring sites. TCEQ’s Toxicology, Risk Assessment, and Research Division continuously reviews monitoring data on approximately 134 air toxics for potential health effects using the extensive statewide stationary network, as well as other sources, to ensure Texans are protected.
