The Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) last week hosted a one-day PFAS Summit, where 180 in-person attendees, and others virtually, gathered to learn more about the state’s efforts on the contaminant.
Speakers from DEQ, ECOS, the state’s Department of Health & Human Services, U.S. EPA Region 8, Hill Air Force Base, Marathon Oil, Central Davis Sewer District, and Park City exchanged information on PFAS regulations, sampling efforts, fish consumption guidelines, and case studies, among other topics. DEQ noted that given widespread interest in the topic and the Summit itself, it hopes to expand this conference into a larger statewide event next year.
