The Utah Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) participated in the Salt Lake Chamber’s February Clear the Air Challenge, which aimed to educate residents about tools to cut tailpipe emissions. Competitors tracked online the number of car trips saved by using alternative methods of transportation like carpooling, telecommuting, chain tripping, walking, and taking public transit. DEQ staff shared their experiences on the agency’s website, noting that the challenge made them more aware of the impact they have on air quality.
