The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) launched a School Bus Replacement Program in 2016 in an effort to improve student safety as part of the DEQ’s Emissions Reduction Program. School buses running on diesel that no longer meet diesel emission requirements set by U.S. EPA are replaced through a grant that has funded the replacement of 92 buses thus far.
Emission reductions are especially important in protecting children, who are a vulnerable population when it comes to air pollution, especially students with respiratory sensitivities like asthma. On top of emissions reductions, the new buses are also outfitted with updated safety features, including seatbelts. Buckle up!
