This week, the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is featuring on its website its ‘After the Garbage Can’ program to educate residents on the management of Wyoming’s trash after collection. Managing more than 200 solid waste facilities across the state, the Wyoming Solid Waste Permitting and Corrective Action Program (SWPCA) ensures that Wyoming’s trash is disposed of properly. The landfills under SWPCA jurisdiction must meet state and federal regulations to ensure the least impact to communities and the environment. The facilities also embrace recycling, diversion, and food and green waste composting in hopes of reducing the amount of waste that goes into the landfill.
SWPCA offers a variety of training programs throughout the year to help Wyoming’s solid waste community and the public have a better understanding of the solid waste regulations. Check out the Wyoming DEQ website for more information.
