The program is a recycling program for used truck and passenger vehicle tires. Five waste tire recyclers are currently operating in Utah, including two industrial kilns use waste tires as fuel, three crumb rubber manufacturers, and one municipal landfill using chipped tires for daily cover material.

What are the Results to Date?
From 1990-2020:
- 803,329.28 tons of tires have been recycled
- $55,908,601 of recycling reimbursements have been paid, and
- 42,526.25 tons of waste tires from abandoned and landfill stockpiles have been cleaned up.
What are the Resources Needed, including Time, Cost, Etc.?
Funding for the waste tire recycling program comes from a fee assessed on the purchase of a new tire, including those associated with a new vehicle purchase. Currently, the fee is $1 per new tire.
