The project aims to educate the public about food waste prevention and reduction, with the ultimate goal of cutting down on food waste. The center provides information to advance equity, drive research, and inspire learning and action to drive systemic change and shift people’s relationships with food.

Washington’s Food Waste Reduction Act was unanimously passed in 2019, leading to the creation of the Washington Center for Sustainable Food Management.

What are the Results to Date?
The Center is tasked with increasing access to data and tracking in addition to measuring progress toward the 2030 goals. This work will be supported by ongoing research that increases our understanding of available data and establishes how to incentivize voluntary data reporting.
